The World Canine Organization (FCI)

With the Federation Cynologique International, world dog organizations have been in existence for 100 years. Other organizations,sometimes older, work by its side, without for that matter being attached toit. The number of dog show organized every year throughout the world is impressive: several tens of thousands.

The World Canine Organization

The FCI (Federation Cynologique International) was founded on May 22, 1911. Its founding countries were Germany, Austria, Belgium,France and the Netherlands. It ended with the First World War and was recreated only in 1921 on the initiative of the Society Royal Saint-Hubert (Belgium) and the Society Central Canine (France). Today, these two countries have no link of subordination with it.

An international authority, the FCI groups together 84 countries including most European countries, along with many countries from Asia, Latin America and Africa. It is based in Thuin, in Belgium. It aims at:
